Pre-Thanksgiving Weekend

This past weekend my mom's side of the family had our Thanksgiving dinner/gathering out at the cabin due to some relatives being in from BC this past week. It was a beautiful fall weekend to be at the cabin. I love being out there when the air is crisp and I can be inside the cabin by a fire under a cozy blanket. The days were warm and gorgeous though still allowing us to spend some time outside among the fall colors. Cole came out with me and we spent a good majority of the day outside flying kites, jumping in leaves, going for quad rides and playing at the park.

Cole checking out the wildlife that are making their way onto our property. This weekend my dad set some traps because we are having some serious skunk and raccoon problems. We ended up catching one of each. Cole wasn't sure what to quite make of the whole idea of trapping animals. It's how I grew up (I come from a big hunting family), so I don't really think twice about it anymore. If you have an animal problem, you set a trap or you get your gun.

Cole has also perfected his bike riding with no training wheels. He has made HUGE improvements over the course of the summer. He now can start off on his own - no pushes from me are needed!

The Quad Adventure

Mid morning on Saturday, Cole and I set out on a quad adventure. We toured around most of the surrounding area. It was a lot of fun. We discovered a lot of things we didn't know existed.

We discovered these crazy lawn decorations on our journey that were for sale. Cole just thought they were the funniest looking creatures ever!

Right: Me and Grandma

After a very big thanksgiving dinner, us kids decided we needed to get up and do something to make our stomachs feel better, so we started a game of football. We went pretty hard core and by the end of the game, we were all sweating like crazy. Some people decided that "hey, we should go swimming to cool off". Well, it definitely cooled them off. I think swimming on September 29th in the lake is a record, even for us (we have some pretty hardcore swimmers in our family). I couldn't bring myself to go in, so I stood on the beach and watched instead.

Good News and a Sick Day

This morning Cole woke up with a fever and a terrible cough, so due to my somewhat flexible schedule and my more laid back day of classes, I am able to stay home with him. It's kinda fun having a sick day where we both just get to lay on the couch and watch movies. Although, I will need to do some of my studying very soon.

I put together some pages in my scrapbook while Cole caught up on some cartoons.

So now for the good news, I got a phone call about an hour ago from my doctor's office. They have an appointment for me for my CT scan. It's October 25th at 7:45am (the day before my birthday). I guess it can be a little birthday gift for me:)
I'm glad that I finally have an appointment, but it is a little frustrating that I have to endure these insane headaches and nausea for another whole month without getting any answers. Bah!!
Thank you everyone for your prayers and emails. They mean a lot and I will continue to keep you all posted.

Back off to the couch for a snuggle with Cole :)

ANTM

Last night, Kristy, Aimee, Deanna, Laurie and myself got together to watch America's Next Top Model. What a wonderful show! I love being able to get together with friends and sit and watch a tv show together, do a bit of catching up and then go home. There is something neat about having a very low key evening where nothing really has to be planned and it's ok if there isn't a lot of talking amongst each other (don't get me wrong, we definitely did talk during commercials, but it was just so relaxed).

Thanks Aimee for letting us come and crash your place!

Andrew (Aimee's husband) was responsible for the snacks and let me tell you, he did a very fine job! We were not lacking in the chips department. I think we had 5 different kinds of chips, some onion dip, licorice and drinks. We were well taken care of.

My vote for the winner at this point in the competition is Lisa.

Happy Birthday Derek

Happy
18th

Birthday
Derek!

Today is my brother Derek's birthday. He had quite the birthday this year. Since Derek was 3 he has been in love with Dallas Cowboys. Him and my dad used to watch Monday Night Football together whenever the Cowboys were playing. So for his birthday this year, his girlfriend Courtney bought him a ticket to go and see a Cowboys game on November 27th in Dallas Texas with my dad. He was beside himself when he opened the envelope to find the 2 tickets. Talk about a pretty incredible gift. My 18th birthday was for sure not that exciting.

I spent the day at my parent's place today hanging out with the family. It was a good time. His birthday definitely ended up being a themed birthday (which was not planned at all). Everything he got was somehow football related. I suppose "Great minds think alike".

Since Derek got a new football as one of his gifts, we all decided to go out into the street and throw it around a little.

Here is Dominika decked out in her "game clothes" and wearing her "game face". Way to go Dom, you look fierce.
