the christmas festivities

Christmas has come and gone. This year was extremely low key thanks to extended family gatherings either being cancelled for the first time in over 50 years or gatherings held weekends prior to Christmas.  The usual 4 gatherings crammed into 2 days was missing this year and I must admit, I was not disappointed. This year, I appreciated the low key-ness of the holidays and the solitude.

Christmas Day with the family consisted of a seafood dinner, complete with crab legs, shrimp and smoked salmon. It was delicious. Who knew seafood could taste so good in the heart of the prairies :)

Me and my Kitty - he was less than impressed to be wearing his santa outfit.

The annual Christmas picture.

My parents blew us away with gifts this year. Courtney and I both received a beautiful strand of salt water pearls. I've wanted a strand of pearls for soooo long now and yesterday it came true!!!

The grandkids and their significant others. The only ones missing were Lucas and Samantha.

Christmas Day ended off with an airport run to pick up my dear friend and new roommate for the next 8 months. Perfect.
