August Long Weekend

After my not so good start to the long weekend on Friday, Saturday morning I headed out to the cabin with Kevin and Dominika in hopes of turning the weekend around. The weather was unfortunately not all that great. Saturday presented with some rain and dreariness, so we spent the day inside reading, scrap booking, playing games and chillaxing (not sure where that word came from, but it seems appropriate).
Derek and Courtney came later on in the afternoon after the 2 of them were finished work and we were able to celebrate my mom's birthday. I was in charge of the decorations and Courtney brought out the cake.

Even Bailey got into the festivities

I was impressed with every one's enthusiasm, especially with wearing the party hats! I wasn't so sure that some certain boys would cooperate, but they did! Thanks guys!

Late Sunday morning Graham, Kristy, Norah, Andrew and Aimee came out for the day. Again, we didn't have very nice weather for most of the day. I was positive that blue sky was coming, but I seemed to be outnumbered on that one, so we stayed inside chatting and playing poker.

Dad and Norah bonding. It was quite sweet to watch them together. He is going to make a great grandpa one day. I'm pumped to watch it happen!

Norah's classic pose with her tongue poking out! So cute.

It was my first time playing. Some may call it beginner's luck, but I call it shear genius as I won my first game! I was pretty pumped. Too bad I was unable to win the second game (it was the game that actually counted seeing as we put money in), but Kristy took the pot home - all of $10!! The girls definitely dominated both games. Looks like we're taking over!

Graham doesn't seem too impressed that the girls are winning.

THE WINNERS!!!!!

The weekend ended with a little bit of sun and some more game playing with the fam. Sometimes even when the weather isn't always perfect, fun is still had. There is something extremely relaxing about staying indoors with the rain pelting against the windows while you are cozy warm under an afghan reading a good book or watching a movie. I returned from the weekend feeling refreshed and very much relaxed. That was well worth the weekend of rain and cloud!

On the agenda for tonight: GIRLS NIGHT!!!!

Love the Kristy shot. Hopefully the girls can take in some poker again... I have a hankering to share in the winning (but will still be a happy loser!) Way to go on winning your first game...that's awesome!

Thought of you LOTS today...hope you had a stupendous time working out that pubus.

Hee hee.

Love you.
