Good Ole Kids Fun

Last week Wednesday, Ella, Sophie and I decided to take in the sights and activities at the Children's Museum. How could I say no to that?? It seems that no matter how old I get, the museum never stops being fun. My favorite part was definitely the Robert Munsch exhibit. He is my favorite children's author. I remember always taking those books out of the library growing up. I found it interesting to read about his life and look through every book he has ever written. I could have stayed in that room forever, but the girls didn't find him nearly as interesting as I did. Perhaps they will come to appreciate him more as they get older!

A favorite is also the tree. If there had not been so many kids there, I probably would have joined Ella and Sophie sliding down the slide, but I thought that might be a tad inappropriate. That's what I love about the Children's museum. It lets you be a kid again - fun and fancy free!

It was hard to get a picture of all 3 of us - this was the best we could do. Not bad.

Peter Pan

Last week Thursday, my mom, Grandma, Courtney and I enjoyed a wonderful Girls Nite Out! For my mom's birthday earlier in the month, us kids had given her a ticket to Rainbow Stage to see Peter Pan and so Thursday was the day we cashed in our tickets and enjoyed the show! It was awesome! For those of you who don't know me very well, I LOVE musicals and I LOVE disney, so Peter Pan was a perfect pick. I would highly recommend seeing it if it something that has been on your mind. You won't be dissapointed.
Prior to the show starting, we decided to indulge and dine out for supper at C.Kleckies. This is one of my favorite places to eat in the city. It is nothing fancy in terms of food or decor, but the taste of the food is incredible. They by far have the best burger, fries and milkshakes in town.

We had a little bit of time to kill in between supper and the show, so we walked around Kildonan Park a little bit, enjoying the gardens and the beautiful weather. We ended up at the Witches Hut (which I have not been to in years). Unfortunately it was closed, so we couldn't venture inside, but we enjoyed the view of the outside instead - even with the gazillions of mosquitoes flying around.

By the time the evening came to a close, we got back into our car just as the rain started to pour. It was perfect timing. The smell of the fresh rain was the perfect way to end a wonderful night.

Belated Birthday Wishes

Happy Belated Birthday Annick!!

I hope your day was fantastic and that you had many wonderful moments spent celebrating you and who you are to so many people.

There are so many wonderful things to say about Annick:
  • She is a lover of coffee (particularly Starbucks - great minds think alike)

  • She has one of the biggest hearts I know

  • She has one of the most contagious laughs I have ever heard

  • She has the ability to put a smile on anyone's face

  • She makes you feel like you are the most valuable person on earth and truly loved

...those are just to name a few.

So Annick, Happy Birthday darling. Let's do coffee or drinks to celebrate soon!!

Goodness

I have just come home to a nice, cool, air conditioned house after spending a weekend at the cabin. The weather was hot hot hot and a tad humid, which in my case makes me want to pull out my hair. The headaches this weekend were out of control. Oh how I longed for an air conditioning unit. On Saturday I was awake for only about 8-9 hours and the rest of the day I slept. I must say though, that I have returned home feeling quite refreshed and stocked up on sleep, which is a welcomed feeling!

In my previous post I mentioned that I had some pictures to post, but after looking through my photos, I realized that I really don't have a ton of pictures that I have taken despite the many "dates" and activities that have consumed my life as of late.

This past week consisted of:
  • a full week of work - both for Heidi and at the clinic
  • a night of watching some Olympics and enjoying delicious gelati with Kristy and Norah
  • Meeting Kristy and Norah for a latte on Friday morning
  • hanging out at the wading pool and spray pad with Sophie
  • church
  • a delightful coffee date with Mary at Second Cup
  • a birthday party for Ella
  • getting the chance to see Gavin crawl for the first time (I was a proud auntie)
  • spending a few days at the cabin.

It was a busy but great week!

A couple weeks ago, Ella, Sophie and I spent a good chunk of the day at the Zoo together. The weather was perfect and there were surprisingly lots of animals out in their cages rather then their usual sleeping inside.

We packed a yummy picnic lunch to have at zoo followed by an even yummier treat...

ICE CREAM!!!

Sophie enjoyed her ice cream right down to the last drop!

Last weekend, Kevin, Dominika and myself felt like going to see a movie. We couldn't all 3 decide on one that we all wanted to see, so we split up. Kevin went to see the movie "Stepbrothers" while Dominika and I saw "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2".

I LOVED the books and the first movie, so I had high expectations for the second movie. Unfortunately the thing about going into a movie with high expectations is that you often leave somewhat disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it was still a great movie, but just not what I expected. They combined the last 3 books into one movie, so it just felt a little rushed and didn't really resemble the 2nd book like I thought it was going to. It was still worth the $9.50 to see it in the theatre.

On the agenda for this next week:

  • More working - both with Ella & Sophie and also at the clinic
  • Rainbow Stage to see Peter Pan with my mom, Grandma and Courtney
  • And hopefully a whole lot of goodness with friends

Craziness

So it's been 2 crazy weeks. What has been amazing is that I have been booked solid for 10 days now, which is a wonderful feeling, however that leaves me very pooped at the end of the day. By the time I get home (somewhere between 9-10pm) I have no energy left and I attempt to crawl into bed so that I can begin a new day fresh. There has been zero moments for blogging over the past few days, which makes me sad, but hopefully tomorrow evening a new post will come with pictures. I'm crossing my fingers.

Work has been absolutely wonderful. I have met some pretty neat people and some interesting clients who need a LOT of work done. It's an amazing feeling to know that I can possibly help this person improve their quality of life! I enjoy that.

On Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays during the day I have been looking after my friend Heidi's 2 girls. We have been having a ton of fun playing 5 Monkey's Jumping on the Bed (it's a game - don't worry we aren't really jumping on the beds), doing a TON of colouring and crafts and enjoying some outings. At the moment both girls are at Fort Whyte day camp for the morning, so I have a couple hours to sit down, write a few emails, bake some cupcakes for Ella's birthday today and do some tidying up around the house.

So until I find a few moments tomorrow to upload some pictures - enjoy the sunny day!!!

August Long Weekend

After my not so good start to the long weekend on Friday, Saturday morning I headed out to the cabin with Kevin and Dominika in hopes of turning the weekend around. The weather was unfortunately not all that great. Saturday presented with some rain and dreariness, so we spent the day inside reading, scrap booking, playing games and chillaxing (not sure where that word came from, but it seems appropriate).
Derek and Courtney came later on in the afternoon after the 2 of them were finished work and we were able to celebrate my mom's birthday. I was in charge of the decorations and Courtney brought out the cake.

Even Bailey got into the festivities

I was impressed with every one's enthusiasm, especially with wearing the party hats! I wasn't so sure that some certain boys would cooperate, but they did! Thanks guys!

Late Sunday morning Graham, Kristy, Norah, Andrew and Aimee came out for the day. Again, we didn't have very nice weather for most of the day. I was positive that blue sky was coming, but I seemed to be outnumbered on that one, so we stayed inside chatting and playing poker.

Dad and Norah bonding. It was quite sweet to watch them together. He is going to make a great grandpa one day. I'm pumped to watch it happen!

Norah's classic pose with her tongue poking out! So cute.

It was my first time playing. Some may call it beginner's luck, but I call it shear genius as I won my first game! I was pretty pumped. Too bad I was unable to win the second game (it was the game that actually counted seeing as we put money in), but Kristy took the pot home - all of $10!! The girls definitely dominated both games. Looks like we're taking over!

Graham doesn't seem too impressed that the girls are winning.

THE WINNERS!!!!!

The weekend ended with a little bit of sun and some more game playing with the fam. Sometimes even when the weather isn't always perfect, fun is still had. There is something extremely relaxing about staying indoors with the rain pelting against the windows while you are cozy warm under an afghan reading a good book or watching a movie. I returned from the weekend feeling refreshed and very much relaxed. That was well worth the weekend of rain and cloud!

On the agenda for tonight: GIRLS NIGHT!!!!
